It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our former player James ‘Jimmy’ Snowden.
James was a gentle giant of a man who was the real epitome of everything a club man should be. Turning out for the senior teams on a Saturday afternoon, supporting the Women’s team on a Saturday or Sunday and attending as many social functions as possible, this is what endeared him to so many.
On the field, he was a ‘giant‘ of a presence and a great team player, who everyone loved.
During games, you could always rely on him to give it his all, even if he took a knock or a bump, he would shake it off and give it his all for the black and white.
Even when he was injured, James would come along with pint in hand (Guinness in the Winter months, Old Mout Kiwi and Lime in the Summer months) and support the guys, taking pride in being ‘one of us’.
Away from the club, James was also a real socialite with his peers, especially when they went out post-match on a Saturday, or a huge part of the Friday Social Club too. His endearing nature made him a really big part of our wider friendship group.
Having listened and heard so many wonderful stories, thoughts and other amazing comments about James, one thing is for certain, and that is you will be sadly missed by all, but your memory and legacy will never be forgotten.
Rest easy big man, it was a pleasure and an honour to know you, and we all feel blessed that you came into our lives with your gentle, caring, and loving nature.
What a credit to your family you were!
If you need to talk, we as a club are always here to listen, and should you need any support at this challenging time, please reach out to us.
