Rochdale 1st XV vs Broughton Park 1st XV

After threatening in previous performances, Park finally came good beating 2nd placed Douglas at Hough End. Tries from Jack Kelly, Joe Noone and the returning Cameron Flavell, along with 13 points from the boot of Alistair Duddell, saw Park run out 31-18 winners. This ended Douglas’ 4 game winning streak, but victory for Manchester against Burnage means Park remain in the relegation places in 12th. However things above Park are very close, with Waterloo in 4th having won only a single game more than Park. The teams between 4th and 12th are separated by 9 points, with Park picking up the least amount of bonus points which sees them 4 points behind 11th placed Manchester.

This week Park travel to the foothills of the Pennines to face Rochdale in the Lancashire Cup Semi Finals. A win at Rochdale will see Park through to a third consecutive Lancashire Cup final, following the two defeats to Burnage in the previous finals. Following relegation from North One West last season, Rochdale come into Saturday’s game having won their previous four matches in a row. This run that has seen them climb up to 5th in Lancashire & Cheshire Division One, after a slow start to the season. Despite being in the league above Park will not underestimate Rochdale, having themselves knocked out teams from higher leagues during Park’s previous two cup runs.

1st XV Squad

Askew, Booth, Bryan, Cibula, Dewland, Eaton, Edwards, J Hodkinson, Kelly, J Noone, C O'Donnell, P O'Donnell, Richardson, Sinclair, F Smith, Sneesby, Brogan, Tribley, Waind, Wellington

Broughton Park Senior Colts vs Ormskirk Senior Colts

Following their encouraging win against Burnley last month, Parks’ Colts’ progress has stalled with defeat in the two game which have followed. While one match was against the league leaders Clitheroe, the other against Bury was another case of a match the Colts will feel they should have won. This week they look to get back on track at Hough End with Ormskirk the visitors.
